Hi, I’m Ilinca.
I’m a social scientist turned data scientist with an overactive imagination and a solid creative toolkit, a proud introvert, and a lover of early mornings and creative side projects, with a soft spot for fun datasets (talk nerdy to me) and weird and interesting ways to apply machine learning. I’m at my happiest when I get to turn a lovely new idea into something tangible and translate shower thoughts into real-life products and projects.
Originally from Romania’s chaotic capital Bucharest, I grew up in the peaceful and very efficient South of Germany. In 2011, I moved to Edinburgh to study Politics and Sociology, followed by one year of living, studying, and often very nearly despairing at Balliol College, Oxford, doing an MSc in Social Science of the Internet with a specialisation in computational social science.
These days, I’m a Director of Data Science at Wunderman Thompson in NYC after stints in Singapore and London.
